Si Woo Kim has reportedly turned down the chance to join LIV Golf next season, choosing to stay on the PGA Tour. The news comes amid ongoing speculation about players moving to the Saudi-backed league.
Flushing It Golf confirmed the decision on X on Friday, December 12 citing a statement from Si Woo Kim’s team. According to the Korean media outlet Maeil Business Newspaper:
Thanks for the submission!
“It is true that Kim Si-woo, like many Korean players, has been offered a recruitment. However, Kim Si-woo finally expressed his intention to refuse and decided to remain on the PGA Tour.”
Fans quickly reacted to the news on social media. One wrote:
“LIV Golf constantly taking Ls! 😂”
Another pointed to Si Woo Kim’s current 47th OWGR, writing:
“There really isn’t much upside for top 50 guys to make the move at this point. If (or when) LIV gets world ranking points, it’s a different story. Even then though, owgr is so skewed that LIV events will get screwed”
Another added:
“At this point I suspect that this could have been a way for Si Woo to get more money whilst playing the nobility card. Or they weren’t able to do the deal for the other person.”
One declared
“This guy wore pga sweater at an event. He aint going to live”
Another user asked:
“Now that he’s staying on the PGAT, he’s a great player I guess?”
One chimed in:
“I 1000% believed he was gone. Don’t know why this one was so believable but the past ones didn’t stick”
Si Woo Kim was reportedly in late-stage talks to join Becko East GC (Ironheads GC) captained by Kevin Na. Despite the offer he opted to stay on the traditional tour, keeping his focus on PGA Tour events.
