Norwich City lock horns with Southampton on matchday 21 of the Championship on Saturday. The two sides are perched in opposite halves of the points table.
Philippe Clement’s Norwich are coming off a 1-1 draw at Sheffield United in midweek, ending the Blades’ four-game winning streak. Following a goalless first period at Bramall Lane, Danny Ings put the hosts in front five minutes into the second period.
Thanks for the submission!
However, El Hadji Djibril Soumare put one past his own goalkeeper 15 minutes later as a share of the spoils ensued. Despite a second draw in four games, the Canaries remain deep in trouble, languishing second from bottom (23rd place), with 14 points from 20 outings, winning three.
Meanwhile, Tonda Eckert’s Southampton saw off West Bromwich Albion 3-2 at home in midweek. Following Leo Scienza’s 12th-minute opener, Adam Armstrong’s brace gave the Saints a commanding three-goal half-time lead.
West Brom rallied after the break, with Karlan Grant and Nat Phillips reducing the deficit. But an equaliser wasm’t to be as Eckert’s side registered their second straight win to climb to ninth in the standings, with 30 points from 20 matches, winning eight.
