“Following a university investigation, credible evidence was found that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. This conduct constitutes a clear violation of university policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behavior.”
Moore posted a 17-8 record during his two seasons as the program’s coach. He took over for Jim Harbaugh after the Wolverines won the 2023 national championship. Moore was arrested following his dismissal, although specific criminal charges have not been disclosed.
Michigan targets Alabama’s Kalen DeBoer as Sherrone Moore replacement

ESPN Baton Rouge’s Matt Moscona reported that Michigan would pursue Kalen DeBoer as Sherrone Moore’s replacement. DeBoer is the coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide, the No. 9 seed in the College Football Playoff.
“I got a call Saturday that Sherrone Moore was going to be fired for cause due to an inappropriate relationship,” Moscona tweeted on Wednesday.
“Not sure I believed it- I hear wild rumors all the time. Well, this person was right. The person also mentioned Michigan would target Kalen DeBoer as Moore’s replacement”
DeBoer would owe Alabama a $4 million buyout if he leaves this year. He served as Eastern Michigan’s offensive coordinator from 2014-2016 and has strong Midwestern ties.
The Wolverines need a coach in place by Jan. 2 when the transfer portal opens.
