Arsenal defender Cristhian Mosquera will be sidelined for several weeks after picking up an ankle injury against Brentford.
The Spaniard sustained the setback in the midweek fixture against the Bees and was subsequently absent against Aston Villa on the road.
Manager Mikel Arteta has now confirmed that Mosquera’s injury is serious than initially predicted and he will be out for some weeks.
The news is a huge blow for the Gunners, considering they are already without two more centre-backs in William Saliba and Gabriel.
Saliba is touted to return in the near future. Alongside Mosquera, Gabriel and Kai Havertz are nursing injuries and may not return until next year.
Arsenal will be in Champions League action against Club Brugge on Wednesday before hosting Wolverhampton Wanderers in the league.
Arteta could opt for plenty of rotation in the midweek European game, given the heavy workload on his players over the past few months.
The likes of Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka could be rested.
