A top star has revealed why she joined AEW. She also made a massive prediction about her future.

Mina Shirakawa made a massive name for herself in Stardom in Japan. She was one of the top stars in the promotion. Despite her success in Japan, she chose to cross the border and travel to the US to make a global name for herself in AEW. Since then, she has been quite successful in her task.

During a recent appearance on the AEW Unrestricted podcast, Mina Shirakawa stated that when she wrestled in All Elite Wrestling in 2024, she noticed that Tony Khan would watch every match and give feedback to the wrestlers, which she liked very much since this was a different experience than the one she was used to in Stardom. She also noted that she wanted to wrestle in the US for a long time, but the pandemic prevented her from doing so.

“And so when I came to wrestle in AEW and I was so like every match after every match Tony Khan watch our match every time every matches and after match he said to us, ‘Amazing! F**king great! ……I’m so so so happy because in Japan the top person sometime watch the match but not every time. So yeah I was so impressed. Yeah. And Tony Khan loves the wrestling so much. So, oh, I like that boss. I love the boss. And I think for our life that timing is very important, right? Yeah. So for a long time I want to wrestle in the US but pandemic happened so I didn’t get a chance to come here but last year I thought maybe that is timing for me that’s the best timing for me to come here.”

Mina Shirakawa also added that part of the reason for her wanting to come to Tony Khan’s company is so that she could inspire other Stardom or Joshi wrestlers to follow in her footsteps.

“So this year I have decided to be a AEW member and this was not for just for me but also for other Stardom members or other Joshi wrestlers because some Joshi wrestlers want to wrestle in the US but they hide the real feeling. So yeah. So at the secret so secret between so me and some girls. ‘Oh, Mina san I want to wrestle the US. How should I do?’ So they want to ask yeah they as they want the advice from me. So I want to make the path from Joshi wrestling to AEW. So yeah, so I decided to come here and yes, I want to help the Joshi wrestlers if they want to come to AEW.”

After the episode was released, Mina took to social media to promote it while also promising fans that she is going to become a champion in the Jacksonville-based promotion. Check out his tweet here:

AEW star Mina Shirakawa also commented on her partnership with Tony Storm

Since signing with AEW, Mina Shirakawa and Toni Storm have formed an alliance. They have even made it to the finals of the Women’s World Tag Team Title Tournament and have a chance to make history together.

During the same podcast episode, Mina Shirakawa opened up on her partnership with Toni Storm, stating that they both understand each other so well due to their similar style of wrestling.

“She [Toni Storm] was Stardom member. So, we have the same sense of wrestling, Japanese style, hard-hitting. So, it’s easy to understand what she wants to do in the ring. I can understand English and the same to Toni. Toni can understand what I want to do in the ring easily. So, it’s very natural.”

It will be interesting to see if Mina Shirakawa and Toni Storm will become the inaugural Women’s World Tag Team Champions.
