Sophie Cunningham surpassed Shedeur Sanders‘ brother, Shilo Sanders, in major ranking. On Thursday, Google revealed the top-searched athletes in 2025 in their “Year in Search” recap.
Shedeur Sanders topped the list at the number one place, while his brother Shilo Sanders held the eighth place. Sophie Cunningham held seventh place on the list. The Indiana Fever star has increased her popularity at a meteoric rate this year.
She arrived in Indiana as a trade piece from the Phoenix Mercury in January. Since her arrival, Cunningham has become a fan favorite, thanks to her on-court performances and good friendship with Caitlin Clark.
The Fever star started her first season in Indiana as a bench option. However, as the guard on the Fever squad picked up injuries, she had to step up and assume a starting role. Cunningham averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. Her season came to an abrupt end right before the playoffs as she tore her MCL in a 99-93 overtime win over the Connecticut Sun.
Shilo Sanders, on the other hand, has garnered considerable negative attention on the internet. He signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a free agent after going undrafted in the 2025 NFL draft. However, he was waived before the season after being involved in a violent altercation with Buffalo Bills tight end Zach Davidson.
Travis Kelce’s age left Sophie Cunningham surprised
Travis Kelce is going strong as the Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end at the age of 36. However, the three-time Super Bowl champion is planning for a life after retirement. Kelce discussed his post-retirement life on his “New Heights” podcast on Wednesday.
George Clooney had asked Kelce about a career in acting post-retirement, and the Chiefs star said that he would be there in a heartbeat for people like Adam Sandler, who have been his heroes.
On Friday, Sophie Cunningham and her co-host, West Wilson, discussed football on the “Show Me Something” podcast. During the segment, Wilson stated that football takes a toll on the players’ bodies. Cunningham asked about Kelce’s age and was surprised to learn the Chiefs star’s age. (Timestamp: 9:25)
“Travis is 36? That is pretty old for football. I was thinking 30, 31 or 32 would be pretty old for football,” she said.
Later, Wilson mentioned that Tom Brady had played in the NFL until he was 41, and Cunningham quickly drew a comparison between Brady and Diana Taurasi.
