The Miami Dolphins face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday in a duel that will see Tua Tagovailoa take on former teammate, cornerback Jalen Ramsey. Ramsey’s divorce from the Dolphins wasn’t amicable, but it doesn’t seem that there is bad blood with his old teammates.
During his Thursday availability, Tagovailoa said it wasn’t a personal duel against Ramsey, noting that the Steelers are a strong unit on defense.
Thanks for the submission!
“We all know Jalen is a very aggressive player. That’s Jalen’s mindset as well. But we’re not just playing against Jalen. We’re playing their entire defense,” Tagovailoa said of Ramsey. “He plays safety like he plays corner, aggressive.”

Jalen Ramsey spent two seasons with the Dolphins, playing 27 games, where he racked up 82 tackles, one sack, five interceptions for 59 yards and 16 passes defended. The Dolphins shipped him to Pittsburgh in a blockbuster offseason trade that included tight end Jonnu Smith joining Ramsey in Pittsburgh and All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick returning to his first NFL team.
Despite having an “irreparably broken” relationship with the Dolphins, Jalen Ramsey thanked them after the trade.
“I do appreciate the Dolphins and them working with me,” Ramsey said on “The Pivot” podcast. “Not just, ‘hey, this team called and, you know, we’re going to send you here.’ … Let’s go to a team that’s going to be able to compete. Let’s go to a team where there’s a lot of respect for the head coach.”
Tua Tagovailoa, Dolphins will try to keep their playoff alive against Jalen Ramsey’s Steelers
Following a tumultuous 1-6 start, Tua Tagovailoa‘s Miami Dolphins found a footing that has kept them alive in the playoff race. The AFC East team has won four of the last five games, including a 30-13 win over the Buffalo Bills in Week 10. They will enter Acrisure Stadium with a big opportunity to reach the .500 mark.
After that, they will host the struggling Cincinnati Bengals (4-9) and the inconsistent Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-6). They will close out the season against the division leaders New England Patriots, at Gillette Stadium.
Miami entered the season with low expectations, and their underwhelming start didn’t uplift the fans’ spirits. However, at 6-7, with four games left, the Dolphins have real chances to sneak into the postseason.
Tua Tagovailoa has gone 238 of 356 for 2,407 yards and 18 touchdowns with 14 interceptions.
