Manchester City are reportedly aiming to sign Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, who was on the cusp of joining Liverpool last summer.

The England international underwent a medical with the Merseyside giants last summer, but the deal broke down at the final hurdle.

Eagles boss Oliver Glasner was unimpressed with the club’s decision to negotiate Guehi’s exit and forced them to change their mind after a suitable replacement was not found prior to the transfer deadline.

Guehi has been performing as usual for the south London outfit, but he is expected to leave on a free transfer when his contract expires next June.

Liverpool are still keen on landing the 25-year-old, but they are set to face fierce competition from rivals Man City in the pursuit of his signature.

Pep Guardiola‘s side are preparing for another big defensive overhaul next summer and Guehi has emerged as a top target, according to The Times.
