The Wales wing dotted down for a stunning individual try during Bristol Bears’ hammering of Harlequins

Louis Rees-Zammit scored a sensational solo try to help Bristol Bears on their way to a 40-14 victory over Harlequins at the Allianz Stadium.

Bristol were winning 19-0 on the stroke of half-time when they found Rees-Zammit on the edge as the Welsh man raced clear before chipping over the top of the Harlequins defence to score.

The Wales wing, who was deployed at full-back on Saturday night, was joined on the try scoring charts by Kalaveti Rauvouvou, Joe Batley, Gabriel Oghre, Santiago Grondona and Ellis Genge.

“Louis has fitted in really well after returning from his NFL spell in the States,” Bristol Bears director of rugby Pat Lam told the BBC.

“He’s an outstanding lad who can switch from wing to full-back, where he played tonight. He can do special things and that’s what he did here with his try.”

Former England international Ugo Monye, on commentary duty for TNT, also waxed lyrical about the try, stating that the Welsh flyer “loves the big stage”.

“The way in which they massage the defence, go down the blindside, the minute he kicks it you know it’s a try,” he said.

“He doesn’t need much space – and he’s given plenty!

“He bursts outside Oscar Beard and, we’ve seen this many times, whether it be for Wales, the Lions or Bristol Bears.
