Anthony Davis has been a consistent name in trade rumors ever since the Mavericks fired Nico Harrison last month. The 10-time All-Star was a fundamental piece in the former Mavs general manager’s vision. Dallas traded a generational talent in Luka Doncic to the Lakers so that they could bring in Davis.
However, AD’s career has been on a rocky path since he arrived in Dallas. The former Laker has spent more time on the bench dealing with injuries than he has on the court.
Thanks for the submission!
On Thursday, ESPN published a mock draft article featuring some trade scenarios featuring the Mavs superstar. One of the trade ideas featured Davis going to the Warriors. It was a four-team trade between the Mavs, the Lakers, the Warriors and the Hornets.

The Dubs got their hands on Anthony Davis and Mason Plumlee, while the Mavs received Draymond Green, Jonathan Kuminga and a 2026 first-round pick via the Warriors. The Lakers and the Hornets joined the trade to balance out assets and make the transaction easier.
The Purple and Gold received Buddy Hield, while the Hornets received Maxi Kleber and Dalton Knecht. In this scenario, all the teams involved in the trade would get the upgrades they have been looking for.
The Dubs would get Anthony Davis, who poses a great threat at the rim, which would allow Steph Curry to get more open looks. The Lakers would get an elite perimeter shooter in Hield, who is in the second year of his four-year $37.8 million contract.
Hield is shooting a career low 30.5% from the 3-point line this season. However, he has proved himself to be an elite threat from the perimeter, and it would only be a matter of time before he rediscovers his shooting rhythm.
Luka Doncic, LeBron James and Austin Reaves attract great attention from opposing teams’ defenders, which creates a lot of open looks for other guys on the team. The Purple and Gold need players like Hield to knock down those open looks.
The Mavs would receive a proven defender in Draymond Green and a young talent hungry to prove himself in Jonathan Kuminga. Green would bring the championship experience and veteran presence on the rebuilding squad, while Kuminga could be the second-best option after Cooper Flagg.
The Hornets would get their hands on Dalton Knecht, who they tried to acquire during a rescinded trade for Mark Williams last season.
NBA insider reveals the Mavs have not ruled out extending Anthony Davis
Anthony Davis’ journey in Dallas might have gone by as he would have imagined, but the 10-time All-Star is still one of the best players in the league in the frontcourt. There is no denying that AD turns the Mavs into a different team when he is healthy and at his best on the court.
While his name is constantly featured in trade rumors, there is a possibility that the Mavs extend Anthony Davis at the season’s end. Shams Charania revealed that the Mavs have not shut down the possibility of keeping AD on the squad in an article on Tuesday.
“Davis’ agent, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul, has met with Mavericks interim co-general managers Michael Finley and Matt Riccardi and requested clarity about whether the franchise wants to extend Davis in the offseason or trade him ahead of the deadline,” he wrote.
“Finley and Riccardi stated the franchise wants to keep its options open and view how the team plays for the next few weeks. They have not ruled out the possibility of an extension.”
Anthony Davis has played 10 games this season and is averaging 19.6 points, 10.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game on 52.3% shooting.
