The UK’s most sought-after places to buy a home and rent have been revealed, as buyers eye up major cities including London, Manchester and Glasgow.
While house prices have been rising in London, this has not put people off moving to the city.

The property portal’s top 10 list of the most-searched for hotspots so far in 2025 featured Cornwall, Liverpool and Sheffield as well.

The most popular homes in the UK and abroad
Rightmove found some properties more than others attracted vast amounts of attention, with buyers visiting its website keen to find out more details.
A medieval townhouse in Conwy, Wales, on sale for £875,000 was one of the most searched for so far in 2025, with its bath tub shaped like a high heel piquing people’s interest.

A mansion in St John’s Wood, London, on sale for almost £50 million and in one of the capital’s most popular postcodes, also caught buyers’ attention.
Meanwhile, one Victorian townhouse in Glasgow’s Park District, listed for £2.5 million, was ogled by plenty of property enthusiasts on Rightmove’s website.
Overseas, a giant country house and estate in Mallorca, Spain, featuring 29 bedrooms and 32 bathrooms struck a chord with buyers, who may have been left a little speechless at the more than £66 million price tag.

A seafront estate in Corfu, Greece, on the market for over £12 million and offering two villas, an infinity pool and panoramic views, also drew attention from buyers.
Not all the most searched for properties abroad come with premium prices – one historic property in Lombardy, Italy, minutes from Lake Como, is listed for £152,950.

Top features for home buyers and renters
Rightmove also pooled data together on the property features most sought-after by home buyers and renters.
It found they are most keen on properties with garages, with annexes the second most important feature, then a garden.
Renters were most keen to know whether properties were pet-friendly, had a garage and were furnished. Knowing whether bills were included in the rental price was also crucial.
